INCREDIBLE COMPACT DISC AND GORGEOUS VINYL REISSUES!! Sundazed Music is the home of amp-melting rock 'n' roll, reverb-drenched surf guitar, swivel-hipped rockabilly, mindbending psychedelic sounds, string-popping country music, ultra-suave jazz, fuzz-damaged garage rock and chart-topping pop!!
Though the ’60s garage band explosion was felt in every corner ofthe country, the local uprising of talent in Chicago thrived unlike anywhere else. The Windy City had the perfect infrastructure in place; from a booming population of teenagers, to hip music stores in every suburb, a proliferation of teen clubs willing to take their money, and a powerhouse radio station (WLS) equally up to promoting local bands.
A quarter century into the CD age, it’s hard to believe these pivotal labels have never been properly anthologized. Until now, that is! Sundazed once again arrives to the rescue with an exhaustive dive into the pure, undiluted garage side of USA and Destination Records; tapping into everything from priceless artifacts from the Lost Agency, the Foggy Notions, and Park Avenue Playground to label hitmakers the Buckinghams, the Cryan’ Shames, and the Flock at their most rockin’. There’s so much impossibly great music on these labels, we had to expand this collection to 40 tracks.

THE TRASHMEN
LIVE IN SPAIN EXCLUSIVE DIGITAL ONLY RELEASE! DOWNLOAD THE ENTIRE ALBUM FOR $9.99! In 1963, the Trashmen achieved a landmark of cultural transcendence when they committed the immortal garage anthem "Surfin' Bird" to vinyl, capturing two and a half minutes of inspired, unhinged abandon that's never been matched in rock 'n' roll. The song climbed to Number Four on Billboard's national Hot 100, and became a massive hit in Canada, Mexico, Venezuela, Australia and Sweden. In 2008, onstage in Spain, the remarkably durable combo (with three-fourths of its original lineup intact) blasted through that seminal classic and a passel of vintage nuggets as if the ensuing four and a half decades had never happened. This high-energy live set, which features an appropriately insane "Surfin' Bird," along with the Trashmen classics "Bird Dance Beat" and "King of the Surf," and the band's distinctive takes on such standards as "Money," "Ghost Riders In The Sky," "Ubangi Stomp," "Miserlou," "High School Confidential" and "Louie, Louie (the last two featuring guest appearances by Eddie Angel and Johnny Rabb of the Neanderthals). All of them are performed with the same good-naturedly demented intensity that continues to endear the Trashmen to fans around the world.

NOW AVAILABLE ON HIGH-DEFINITION VINYL— The seminal Greenwich Village acid-folkies’ twisted Americana collided with mainstream Nashville to produce this 1971 cult classic. Features cover art and songwriting by alt-folk hero Michael Hurley and contributions from original Elvis Presley sidemen Scotty Moore and D.J. Fontana, jazz icon Bob Dorough, beloved vocalist Tracy Nelson and steel guitar legend Pete Drake. Includes the Rounders’ risqué left field hit “Boobs a Lot.”
Despite a myriad of obstacles, Moby Grape managed to persevere and create a potent and enduring body of recorded work, recording four albums during its original 1967–1969 lifespan. While 1967’s Moby Grape is widely acknowledged as a classic (and one of rock’s greatest debut albums), the subsequent Wow, Moby Grape '69 and Truly Fine Citizen are all underrated gems with much to recommend them. It’s a measure of the musicians’ abundance of talent and creativity that, despite the multiple roadblocks that they confronted, Moby Grape recorded prolifically and cut a wealth of originally unreleased material. The Place and the Time offers a scintillating assortment of rare tracks cut during the band’s heady 1967–1968 heyday. Encompassing audition recordings, album outtakes, alternate versions, live material and more, the recordings offer a powerful testament to the remarkable rapport that made Moby Grape such a unique force.
Prior to her recent rediscovery by a new generation of admirers, Detroit-bred soul diva Bettye LaVette spent nearly four decades building a thrilling body of music that her new fans now have the pleasure of discovering. For many longtime LaVette devotees, her recordings for the Silver Fox label, and its parent company SSS International, rank with the artist’s finest work. Do Your Duty collects the 11 classic solo sides that LaVette cut for Silver Fox and SSS in 1969 and 1970, including her beloved R&B hits “He Made a Woman Out of Me” and “Do Your Duty.”
THE BAD SEEDS
I’m a King Bee/A Taste of the Same/Sick and Tired/All Night Long AVAILABLE NOW!
• 7" VINYL EP - $5.00:: more info and ordering! The Bad Seeds’ story is a familiar one. A product of the youth-fueled sixties rock ’n’ roll wave, they enjoyed a meteoric rise on their home turf, the Texas Gulf Coast.
This extended play collects the absolute cream of their original J-Beck Records output, from the pure Lone Star swagger of “I’m a King Bee” to “All Night Long”; easily the most Elevators-inspired jukebox selection ever. And to make it essential, the Bad Seeds’ ultimate statement, “A Taste of the Same,” makes its welcome return to vinyl.
THE FALLEN ANGELS
Who Do You Love/Hello Girl AVAILABLE NOW!
• 7" VINYL SINGLE - $5.00 :: more info & ordering! Prior to their late ’60s reign as Washington, D.C.’s leading exponents of psychedelic rock, not
to mention the hairiest freaks south of the Mason-Dixon line, the Fallen Angels ruled the nightclubs in our nation’s capitol as, well, the hairiest R&B dance band on the planet. In 1966 (and despite outweird appearances), they catered to a very un-psychedelic college set on the bustling, draft beer au go go club circuit centered around Georgetown’s M Street. This lethal single pairs
the Fallen Angels at their most savage and screamprone, on a totally unreleased ’66 cover of “Who Do You Love,” backed with the stunning power-folk of “Hello Girl,” later recut and destroyed by Roulette Records.
THE PREACHERS
Who Do You Love/Stay Out of My World / Hey Joe AVAILABLE NOW!
• 7" VINYL EP -$5.00 :: more info & ordering! In 1965, the Preachers were as wild as it comes, both in image and sound. Despite their long haired/holier than thou hybrid look, this L.A. fivesome didn’t preach so much as howl a hioctane punk-blues for the Sunset Strip set. Their greatest moment remains “Who Do You Love,” an insanely intense reading by the group’s original teenage wildman, Richard Fortunato. Moonglow Records canned him for being too uncommercial, which just means he’s one of our favorites. The Preachers tried riding the folk-rock wave but thankfully, they always come out sounding like the Preachers. Their previously-unheard “Hey Joe” is a thrilling folk-rock failure full of improvised words and the
most nasally vocalizing this side of the Seeds. Moonglow Records hated this one too, which just means you gotta hear it. It’s our turn to preach about these garage heroes, so we’ve also included their classic “Stay Out of My World.”
MARK SEBASTIAN
BLEECKER STREET AVAILABLE NOW!
• COMPACT DISC - $12.98:: more info & ordering! At an age when many young kids would be more concerned with how to score the phone number of that cute girl in Geometry class, Mark Sebastian wrote a song that shot straight to #1 on the national pop charts. Mark’s big brother, John Sebastian, was the frontman for the Lovin’ Spoonful, already permanent residents of the U.S. Top Ten with a series of 1965–66 smashes that included “Do You Believe in Magic,” “You Didn’t Have to Be So Nice” and “Daydream.”
BLEECKER STREET, a wonderful compilation of Mark Sebastian’s best songs, also serves as a detailed roadmap to a body of work that included musical collaborations with Brian Wilson, Van Dyke Parks and Earth, Wind & Fire, as well as a performing history that’s seen him share stages with the likes of Laura Nyro, the Beach Boys, Eric Burdon and Doors guitarist Robbie Krieger.

Years before bottomless baritone Tennessee Ernie Ford delivered his signature 1955 smash “Sixteen Tons” he was already hard at work on laying the tracks for the coming country-pop crossover waves—tracks that would later be traveled by Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline, Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, and other immortals. Part of this joyous trailblazing involved Ford’s syndicated The Tennessee Ernie Ford Show radio program, which found him backed by the Billy Liebert Band, a stellar outfit that included pedal steel man extraordinaire Speedy West, singer-guitarist Billy Strange, and bassist-trombonist George Bruns. With Ford crooning away out front, the band madly romped through not only country and western swing material but also jazz, pop, and classics of the Great American Songbook.

Cry!,” “Get Rhythm,” “Big River,” and “I Walk the Line,” backed by the signature guitar style of Luther Perkins and Marshall Grant’s steady bass, are really just the tip of the iceberg corralled on this stunning collection.

The Uniques Uniquely Yours
High-Definition Vinyl LP $16.98 Available NOW!
A decade before he was topping the country charts, Joe Stampley fronted one of the deep south’s most legendary and rockin’ ’60s combos, the Uniques. Once signed to Shreveport, Louisiana-based Paula Records, the Uniques made waves nationally on their very first release, “Not Too Long Ago.” That pop classic (faithfully/recently covered by Nick Lowe) is just one of many highlights of their ’66 debut LP, Uniquely Yours. According to the master tape, this record was originally going to be tagged The Uniques in Action; a shelved album title that could not have been more apt.
THE REMAINS The remains (DELUXE mono EDITION)
High-Definition Vinyl 2-LP SET $28.98 Available NOW!
The Remains have always been regarded as the Mount Everest of garage-rock bands, their steaming, fuzzed-up songs copied in every last swaggering detail by legions of cool teenage combos across the nation. Now beefed-up to a stunning, double-LP...
THE KALEIDOSCOPE A Beacon from Mars
High-Definition Vinyl LP $16.98 Available NOW!
Wielding a battery of exotic instruments that once adorned a thrift-shop front window (bazouki, oud, vina, saz, doumbeg), the Kaleidoscope was every bit as multi-hued and subject-to-change as the telescope full of bright bits of colored glass the band was named after. If there had been a prize for the most eclectic psychedelic outfit, L.A.’s Kaleidoscope would have had it stashed on a shelf...
One of the most remarkable unheard albums of 1969, Genesis, the sole release by San Francisco-based sisters Wendy and Bonnie Flower, has emerged as an acclaimed pop-psych touchstone. Brimming with melodic confections and laced with radiant, sisterly harmonies, the set's breezy Brazilian splashes and soft-rock strains convey a sophistication that belies the artists' tender ages (Wendy, 17; Bonnie, 13).
IGGY AND THE STOOGES raw power
High-Definition Vinyl LP
$16.98 Available NOW!
If there's ever been an album that lives up to its title, this is it—Iggy and the Stooges' apocalyptic, high-octane bombshell, Raw Power! At times this searing, end-of-the-world death platterhome to such proto-punk frontal assaults as "Search and Destroy," "Shake Appeal," and "Your Pretty Face Is Going to Hell"—even threatens to surpass its beyond-appropriate moniker.
Although this incarnation of the Stooges imploded not long after its release, Raw Power became the LP that launched a million punk rock bands all around the world, leaving its flaming skidmarks on scenes from London to L.A. to Sydney. Sundazed's high-definition vinyl edition of this primal rock 'n' roll beast features the legendary 1973 Columbia Records mix and includes its Mick Rock photo-adorned inner sleeve.
SANTANA SANTANA
High-Definition Vinyl LP
$16.98 Available NOW!
The self-titled 1969 debut by San Francisco ballroom favorite Santana singlehandedly brought Latin rock into the mainstream. Full of steamy, percolating Latin percussion and leader Carlos Santana’s stinging, razor-sharp guitar work, Santana was released in August of that year, the same month as the group’s legendary appearance at Woodstock. Bearing the smash hits “Evil Ways” and “Jingo,” Sundazed’s exact vinyl replica of this all-time classic rock staple is sourced directly from the original Columbia masters..
SANTANA Abraxas
High-Definition Vinyl LP
$16.98 Available NOW!
Released in 1970, Abraxas, Santana’s second album, sees the band expanding its already wildly diverse Latin rock sound by adding deeper elements of blues and jazz to the sizzling mix. Abraxas is home to two more of the group’s signature monster hits: the hypnotic, rhythmically hectic interpretations of Tito Puente’s “Oye Como Va” and Fleetwood Mac’s “Black Magic Woman.” Sundazed’s exact vinyl replica of this calienté classic is sourced directly from the original Columbia masters.
Bettye LaVette put on another killer performance last week on the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson and performed live this past weekend as part of the Freihofer's Jazz Festival at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center! Check out her outstanding Silver Fox and SSS recordings on Do Your Duty, which is available on compact disc and vinyl!
Sky Saxon, the mesmerizing frontman for Los Angeles garage-rock legends the Seeds, and longtime friend of Sundazed, died on June 25. One of the top attractions in a stellar array of talent that lit up Hollywood's Sunset Strip in 1966, the Seeds shared stages with Southern California heroes the Byrds, Love and Buffalo Springfield as well as up-and-coming stars like the Doors. The Seeds hit the top of the national charts in late '66/early '67 with their signature tune, "Pushin' Too Hard." Born Richard Marsh in Salt Lake City, Utah, Sky Saxon was at the top of his game when he played Cave Stomp in November, 1998 at Greenwich Village hotspot Coney Island High (photo, front left to right: Jud Cost, Sky Saxon, Bob Irwin, Mark Lindsay, flanked in the back by the Chesterfield Kings and the Mysterians). We will dearly miss frequent long chats with Sky about everything from music to the meaning of the cosmos.

Beloved midwest garage-rock kings and Sundazed recording artists the Trashmen will perform their FIRST-EVER New York-area shows, on October 23 at Southpaw in Brooklyn and October 24 at Maxwell's in Hoboken.
The seminal foursome—original members Tony Andreason, Dal Winslow and Bob Reed, with Tony's brother Mark Andreason taking over for the late Steve Wahrer on drums—will deliver such immortal Trashmen classics as "A-Bone," "Tube City," "King Of The Surf," "My Woodie" and the bigger-than-life anthem "Surfin' Bird," recently proclaimed the Greatest Song of All Time by no less an authority than The Family Guy's Peter Griffin.
Hard as it may be to believe, these shows mark the first time that the Trashmen have played in the New York City area. According to Dal Winslow, "In the early '60s, we played a club in New Jersey and around the Finger Lakes region, but we never hit New York City. It's been a long tome coming, like 40 years, and we're really looking forward to it!"
As a bonus these shows coincide with the WFMU Record Fair at the Manhattan Pavillion, where the Sundazed booth will, as always, be supplying smashing sounds to satisfied shoppers!

LEONARD COHEN 5-LP Package Deal!
By the time Leonard Cohen began his recording career in 1967, the iconoclastic Canadian troubadour was already well established as a poet and author. He quickly emerged as one of the era’s most original and influential singer-songwriters, building a large and legendary body of work that continues to inspire artists and listeners alike.
Much of Cohen’s reputation and mystique was established by his early work for Columbia Records, particularly the five albums he recorded between 1967 and 1974. Now, these five classic albums, unavailable on vinyl for two decades, have been lovingly restored to their original LP format.
For their new Sundazed editions, all five albums have been meticulously remastered and have been sourced from the original Columbia Records stereo masters in order to preserve the sound of the original albums. In keeping with the exacting standards for which Sundazed has become known, each album will be pressed on high-definition vinyl, with complete original cover art.

Wanda Jackson inducted into
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
Rockabilly firebrand Wanda Jackson was recently inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and there's no better way to celebrate the occasion than with this 10" vinyl collection of the pioneering female rocker's historic 1958 performances on the seminal Los Angeles-based TV show Town Hall Party. Originally discovered singing at an Oklahoma radio station by honky-tonk star Hank Thompson, and subsequently convinced by onetime boyfriend Elvis Presley to apply her searing voice to rock 'n' roll material, Jackson became the first artist to demonstrate that women could rock as fiercely as their male counterparts, and these classic tracks capture her at her rockin' peak. Backed by a stellar band headed by guitar legend Joe Maphis, Wanda tears into incendiary renditions of her classic "Mean, Mean Man," her then-current Capitol Records single "Rock Your Baby," a distinctive reading of the Faron Young hit "Alone (With You)" and a show-stopping take of the Elvis Presley hit "Hard Headed Woman," from Elvis' then-current film King Creole. Jackson would later have a long and successful career as a country balladeer, before returning to her rock 'n' roll roots. But she's never been more raw and wild than on this raucous, rocking vintage session, now sounding better than ever on Sundazed's high-definition, ten-inch vinyl.
Semi-trucks groaning with Sundazed product have been rumbling through the streets of Coxsackie nonstop, night and day, for twelve months straight. Our neighbors are getting nervous; dogs are barking. We released so much superb music last year that even we were flabbergasted when we reflected on what's happened over the past 12 months. Whether it's the pounding, teenage-caveman sound of garage rock, the shimmering, shoot-the-moon strains of surf music, the mind-altering, electrical-banana aroma of psychedelic rock or the all-terrain-vehicle friendly twang of country, you must know by now that Sundazed has exactly what makes your heart go flip-flop. And if you think 2008 was pretty fabulous, you'd better hold onto your hat for an even more spectacular voyage in 2009! It'll make Mr. Toad's Wild Ride look like a Sunday school picnic. OK, just to make sure you haven't missed anything, here it is: the complete roadmap to the Wonderful World of Sundazed—with every single item we released in 2008! Knock yourself out!

NEW! EXCLUSIVE CAL SCHENKEL DESIGN SUNDAZED T-SHIRTS
Sundazed is proud to unveil this snappy new t-shirt, featuring a brand new old-school turntable logo created for us by legendary artist Cal Schenkel. Schenkel became an underground legend through his lengthy association with Frank Zappa, during which time his iconic style—showcasing both his absurdist sense of humor and his distinctively rough-edged visual sensibility—graced numerous Zappa albums, as well as classic LPs by Captain Beefheart, Tim Buckley and Tom Waits. Schenkel's unique work was crucial in the emergence of album-cover design as a legitimate art form, and became a major inspiration on subsequent generations of artists and bands, particularly in in the punk/new-wave era. Now, one of rock's greatest visual artists joins forces with your favorite reissue label to produce this classic t-shirt!

Comprised of unique mono mixes readied for release and then shelved at the last minute by Columbia Records, several of the cancelled songs on these 10 sides were later revisited and re-recorded; others, for reasons unknown, would remain unissued until now. Housed in beautiful full-color picture sleeves featuring previously unseen photos, these gorgeous singles also feature period-accurate Columbia labels. Purchase all five singles at the special price of $19.98 and we'll include a 4-page "Cancelled Flytes" fold-out with rare archival photos and complete session details about the recordings. :: Click HERE to order your set of Cancelled Flytes!
