The
Fuzztones, staggering from their NYC garage in 1980, became the
point men for the neo-fuzz revolution. An entire generation frugged
with joy at this return to black ribbed turtlenecks, Farfisas, fuzzboxes,
wrap-around shades and Cuban heels. And nobody did it with more
panache than Rudi Protrudi's Fuzztones, who skillfully blended the
reverbed riot of the Shadows of Knight, the guitar mayhem of Link
Wray, the high energy assault of the MC5 and the cousin-kissin'
swagger of Jerry Lee into their own wicked original stew. |
