"When
I was still in the Groovies, it was my band," insists lead
singer Roy Loney. To upgrade Sneakers the Groovies'
knee-slapping ten-incher from 1968 into the powerhouse Supersneakers,
Loney dug up ten more good timey, Spoonful-influenced tracks, cut
live at SF's Matrix club. Their follow-up, Supersnazz, gave
the Flamin' ones a chance to blow out the doors of a major label
studio with songs running the gamut from the hard-rockin' decadence
of "The First One's Free" to the exotic stylings of "Bam
Balam." Now with four bonus tracks, Supersnazz is a
Groovie grab-bag from the Golden Era of San Fran Rock, circa 1969. |
