The
Sweet were the hottest bubble-glam band of the early 70s.
Proudly wearing their high-energy influences (Yardbirds, Who, Eddie
Cochran) on their wildly-colored sleeves, they served up hook-laden
chartbuster 45s like Little Willy and Wig-Wam
Bam, fresh from the prolific pens of the songwriting tandem
known as Chinnichap (Nicky Chinn and Mike Chapman, later producer
of Blondie), while sneaking self-penned blasts of potent rock &
roll fervor onto the flip sides, thus introducing a wide-eyed generation
of pre-teenyboppers to rock & roll. |
