From
his Fort Worth vantage point, Rondalis Tandy idolized Curtis Mayfield
& the Impressions. When he assembled his own vocal trio, the
Van Dykes, their gorgeous 1965-1967 output for Mala Records reflected
that Impressions influence though Tandy's high-flying falsetto
and the sterling harmonies of James Mays and Wenzon Mosley boasted
their own distinctive charms. All the Van Dykes' Mala classics are
aboard this set, including their R&B smashes "No Man Is
An Island," "I've Got To Go On Without You," and
"You Need Confidence." |
