OUT THE BUBBLY: IT'S SUNDAZED'S NEW BUILDING!

And you thought those klieg lights and skyrockets we used to celebrate
our sparkling new website weresomething! Wait until you get a gander
at how we've lit up stately old downtown Coxsackie for SUNDAZED's
newest enterprise: the grand opening of our sumptuous new building,
directly across the street from the place we've called home for
a decade. SUNDAZED, the most dynamic reissues label on the planetand
home of generational icons as diverse as Bob Dylan and Iggy Pop
and as essential to rock 'n' roll's gravitational pull as the Byrds
and the Metershas tripled its floor size
and is loaded for bear. Recession, what recession?
The first floor is the new home for our crack team of graphic artistsfree
at last from having to doe-si-doe around the ever-expanding shipping
departmentas well as a staff conference area and the ever-expanding
SUNDAZED tape vault. Sharp new decking out back will be up and ready
for the autumn BBQ season, no problem. The sales office now occupies
the spacious second floor. The third story may be the crown jewel
of the new facility, housing state of the art studio space, divvied
up into three main rooms: Studios A and C for mastering and editing
and Studio B for mixing.
All
by itself, the recent acquisition of a couple of truckloads of new
and vintage recording gear wouldhave made expansion into new quarters
essential. We've filled the place with modernistic Charles and Ray
Eames-designed furniture that give the client's lounge, for example,
the low-slung feel of a 1960 airport VIP lounge. The antique brick,
mahogany, olive green and frosty yellow color scheme recaptures
the high-rolling glamour of a Las Vegas casino from the Kennedy
years. We admit it: it's a time warp. It's the whole package, located
right on the friendly banks of the Hudson River.
"Artists
we work with love coming to this area," says Bob, who christened
the new studio configuration when he and NRBQ's Terry Adams wrapped
up work on the legendary band's 1970 Ludlow Garage live material.
Bob's also recently remastered the first two Lovin' Spoonful albums
for BMG, groovy vinyl versions of which are already available on
SUNDAZED. Other current projects include mastering of the new album
by Grammy-nominated L.A. pop combo the Jigsaw Seen and Jefferson
Airplane axeman Jorma Kaukonen's classic longplayer Quah.
A breathtaking website section
describing the new building is now up and running.
