The Paisleys

Produced and recorded by Twin Cities svengali Warren Kendrick (the Litter, the Electras/’Twas Brillig), the Paisleys cut Cosmic Mind at Play, their lone LP of downward-spiraling, darkly lysergic dementia, in 1970 in a microscopic pressing of about 2,000 copies. Since then, the album, highlighted by the tellingly named, 18-minute “Musical Journey,” has achieved legendary status among rare psych collectors. Dominated by the electric piano of singer Bill Smith, the Paisleys sound like few other bands of the period.
