The Ronettes

Of all the brilliant, groundbreaking vinyl released by Phil Spector in the early 1960s, the four LPs by his three major artists—Presenting The Fabulous Ronettes Featuring Veronica by the Ronettes; Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah by Bob B. Soxx & the Blue Jeans; and a pair by the Crystals, Twist Uptown and He's A Rebel—are the signposts that chart the big picture of Spector's daring "Wall of Sound" recordings.

Containing every early chart smash by sisters Veronica and Estelle Bennett and their cousin Nedra Talley, the Ronettes' debut LP was an embarrassment of riches. Beginning with the hypnotic signature drum pattern of "Be My Baby," and follow-up smashes "Baby (I Love You)," "You Baby," "(The Best Part Of) Breaking Up" and "Do I Love You?" through the epic cloudburst of "Walking In The Rain," the Ronettes had become the perfect American accompaniment to the British Invasion acts who had turned the pop charts upside-down in 1964. The Spanish Harlem-raised trio would go on to tour with the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, and Veronica would marry Spector and become Ronnie Spector.
