Phil Spector Presents - A Christmas Gift for You

Phil Spector Presents

The Ronettes, The Crystals, Darlene Love and more! A Christmas Gift for You

LP 4004 - 180 Gram Vinyl R.T.I. Pressing

In 1963, visionary producer Phil Spector created one of the first—and one of the greatest—rock ‘n’ roll Christmas albums. Using the artist roster of his Philles label—the Ronettes, the Crystals, Darlene Love and Bob B. Soxx and the Blue Jeans — along with the legendary studio musicians of the Wrecking Crew — Spector applied his fabled Wall of Sound to a set of Christmas pop standards and holiday-themed originals. The record brilliantly merged the holiday spirit with the singular sonic uplift of the Spector sound. Sundazed’s A Christmas Gift for You is sourced from the original Philles label mono masters and is pressed on 180 gram vinyl in a limited red-wax edition. Listeners can now perfectly experience the original.

TRACK LIST: Darlene Love: White Christmas / The Ronettes: Frosty the Snowman / Bob B. Soxx and the Blue Jeans: The Bells of St. Mary / The Crystals: Santa Claus Is Coming to Town / The Ronettes: Sleigh Ride / Darlene Love: Marshmallow World / The Ronettes: I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus / The Crystals: Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer / Darlene Love: Winter Wonderland / The Crystals: Parade of the Wooden Soldiers / Darlene Love: Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) / Bob B. Penny Arkade - Not the Freeze

Penny Arkade

Not the Freeze

LP 5471 - 180 Gram Vinyl R.T.I. Pressing

One of our most-requested titles for vinyl release...
Produced by Michael Nesmith, the Penny Arkade not only shared the fuzzy psychedelic pop of the Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn & Jones Ltd., -era Monkees, but also referenced the amazing country-acid sparkle of fellow West Coasters Moby Grape and Buffalo Springfield. Recorded in 1968 (but left unissued for decades), Not the Freeze is highlighted by the breathtakingly-ambitious songwriting of Craig Vincent Smith (aka Maitreya Kali) and Chris Ducey. Together for barely two years, the Penny Arkade recorded this one magnificent album before cashing out, some heading to faraway lands, and leaving the masters to languish on a shelf. Michael Nesmith: “You can’t measure it against contemporary music in any way; you have to take it from the time that it was done. When I listened to it yesterday I was really struck by how much it really was of the time it was made. It distilled that time and voiced it.”

TRACK LIST: Lights of Dawn / Country Girl / Thesis / Swim / Color Fantasy / Voodoo Spell / Not the Freeze / Love Rain / Century of Distance

The Avantis - Gypsy Surfer / Wax 'Em Down

The Avantis

Gypsy Surfer / Wax 'Em Down

S 287 - 7" Single

For our money, there’s nothing quite as cool as a 7” slab of vintage, reverb-pumped 60’s surf wax. And here’s a brand new, super-limited pressing of one of our absolute favorites, “Gypsy Surfer” b/w “Wax ’Em Down” by the slick, Mosrite-slinging Avantis... Fronted by Pat and Lolly Vegas (who would later form 70’s hit-makers ‘Redbone’), The Avantis recorded these two LOUD California stompers in 1963 for Chancellor Records. Yup - a true rarity! And now, pressed on cool, ocean-blue vinyl, this double-sider needs to find a perfect home on jukeboxes everywhere and in YOUR favorite box of awesome 60’s singles...
